As elegantly put by Carroll Shelby: "Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races", the importance of Torque in engine performance is sometimes overshadowed by the Horsepower craze. At Yuminashi, we understand that Torque is of utmost importance. This is even more pronounced with the very headwind sensitive Honda eSP engines. Based on this foundation, Yuminashi has introduced the Torque Control Variator in order to help you gain even more acceleration and top speed along with a more comfortable ride since this Variator inherits and improves on the great features introduced by our previous Variators. This focus on the Torque side will benefit greatly the riders that weigh 200lbs (90kg) or more.
This new version of the Torque Control Variator comes with 8gr 20x15 rollers to be used with your stock Honda drive boss. After excessive tests, we have found that this combination works best in both acceleration and top speed. If you want to further tune this Variator to your personal liking, we advise you to purchase the 10gr rollers set which you can find over here and the 2.0 drive boss (1mm shorter than the stock pulley boss), which you can find over here in order to have a lot of available combinations to choose from.
With this Torque Control Variator, we have also improved on its effects on V-Belt life and also its performance with a heat stretched, narrower V-Belt. Pre-production tests with the 2016 Torque Control variator installed have proven that the acceleration from 0km/h until 100Km/h (0 to 60MPH) remains exactly the same either if it is used with a new V-Belt or with a 7mm stretched V-Belt installed. In our tests the highest top speed achieved with the 7mm stretched v-belt was only 1km/h slower compared to the same test with a brand new v-belt installed.
If you install the 2016 Torque Control variator on a full stock 2014 PCX150 LED, a bike which is known for its mediocre performance, you can experience a serious improvement as soon as you open the throttle and you can expect a improved top speed between *110km/h (63.35mph) and 120Km/h (*74.6Mph) with a normal sitting up straight position. The 10Km/h (6.21mph) difference between those speeds is depending on the road conditions and the fact if you are or are not facing a strong headwind.
The highest top speed we have achieved in our test with a full stock 2014 PCX150 LED while tucking behind the windscreen with our 1.85Mtr (6ft) tall and 95Kg (209.4lbs) test driver was 130Km/h (80.77mph).
*Please notice that the expected speed gain is an expectation and no promise, the actual gain of top speed in your personal case will depend on your personal body weight, height and road conditions...
The rollers should be checked/changed every 1600km/1000 miles (per maintenance schedule) to keep your scooter running at peak performance. Over time, roller weights will develop flat spots which will impair the performance of your scooter. One will have this sooner as others and this based on the performance of your engine and your personal drive style. If you spend a lot of time on top speed then this will demand a lot more from both, your roller weights and your V-Belt, so both will need to be replaced sooner in this case as if it would be the case for someone with a more moderate drive style.
A good indication that your rollers are worn is increasingly high revs for a given speed and/or decreased top speed.
Replacing worn rollers with this set will restore, and actually improve your low-end power and especially your top speed. Fuel efficiency will also improve dramatically!
Factory warranty, 2 years (530 days)
*The factory warranty does not apply to the rollers.
