• XL200R (D) 1983 - Introduction of the model. Equipped with a 192cc OHC single-cylinder engine (based on the ATC200/XR200). Characterized by Pro-Link monoshock rear suspension, a 12-volt system, and a 6-speed gearbox . Color: Flash Red with white/blue graphics.

• XL200R (E) 1984 - The last official year for most Western markets. The graphics on the tank were subtly modified (larger "200R" lettering). The mechanical specifications remained identical to the '83 model.

• XL200R (Brazil/Lat Am) 1985–1992 - Production continued in South America. These models later often received a front disc brake (the early 83-84 models had drum brakes all around) and square headlights.
